Horace “Horacio” Campos, age 76, of Swansea for 40 years, passed away Sunday March 15, 2009 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Joanne (Sousa) Campos. Horace was born & raised in Ajuda da Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores before moving to Fall River in 1965. He was the son of Mariana (Mello) Campos and the late Dimas Campos.
Prior to retiring, Horace worked at Joan Fabrics as a Weaver & Changeover for 29 years. He had previously worked for Eastern Mass Foundry & Park Shellac Co. in Somerset. Horace was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing, raising animals, and listening to Portuguese soccer games on the radio.
Besides his wife of Swansea & mother of Fall River, he leaves two sons: Lyndon Campos and his wife Kimberly of Somerset and Kevin Campos of Swansea. Two grandchildren: Austin & Alanah Campos. Three brothers: Humberto, Henrique, and Dinis Campos all of Fall River and many nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. WEDNESDAY at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Swansea at 10:15 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours TUESDAY 5-9 P.M.
