Eddie Donald "Don" Baker, Sr., 63, of Adel died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at his residence. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with a private service to be held at a later date. The family will have a barbecue on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. at Fulwood Park in Pavillion #11. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish and join them to celebrate the life of their father, Don. There will be two guest books at the visitation and you are asked to sign the “Celebration of Life” book if you plan to attend the barbecue and how many guests will be with you.
Mr. Baker was born on August 11, 1945 in Tifton and was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Jessie Baker, Sr. He is survived by his three children and six additional children he raised: Pamela Kaye Baker Martin and her husband, John E. Martin of Fort Worth, Texas, Eddie Donald Baker Jr and Heidi Thomas of Cape Coral, Florida, Vivian Ann Baker Akin and Ed Johnson of Jeffersonville, Donnie and Theresa Bromlow of Tifton, Michelle Bromlow and Mark Mitchell of Norman Park, Trampus Bromlow and Stephanie Samples of Rome, Gary Jessup of Adel, B. J. and Jennifer Jessup of Adel, Nikki Nobles of Adel; his mother, Gracie Mae Purvis Baker of Tifton, his siblings, Elbert Jessie “Butch”, Jr. and Phyllis Baker of Enigma, and Darrell Roland and Jane Baker of Enigma; two former wives, Pamela K. Baker Lucas of Cochran and Louise Baker Fowler of Tifton; and his companion of 18 years, Christine O’Neal; 18 grandchildren, Chris Aultman, Josh Martin, Ashley Baker, Hunter Baker, Lacie Akin Cranford, Zach Akin, Joseph Bromlow, Joshua Bromlow, Ashley Mitchell, Chris Mitchell, Haley Mitchell, Megan Bromlow, Asher Bromlow, Lacey Grimmett, Courtney Grimmett, Brandon Jessup, Autumn Jessup and Andrew Jessup; and five great grandchildren, Matthew Cranford, Raydon Cranford, Nicholas Cranford, Aaleiya Aultman and Zaiya Aultman.
