Mr. William R. Grundy, of Taunton, died Saturday, March 14 in Taunton Nursing
Home, surrounded by his large and loving family, following a period of failing health.
He was the husband of Lucille M. (Carrier) Grundy for 53 years. He was born 77 years
ago in Taunton, the son of the late John R. and Ruth M. (Flood) Grundy, and was a
lifelong city resident. He was educated in Taunton, graduating from St. Mary’s
Grammar School, and was a 1950 graduate of the former Msgr. James Coyle High
School. He was also a graduate of the former Mass. Radio School in Boston. Prior
to his retirement, he had been employed as an agent for the Viveiros Insurance Agency
for 2 years, and had previously been employed at the Backlund Insurance Agency for
2 years. Mr. Grundy had formerly been employed as an insurance agent for the John
Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company for 30 years. He had also worked at his
family’s restaurants, The Cottage in Taunton and Grundy’s Restaurant in Raynham.
He was a U.S.Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served as a Gunner’s Mate
Second Class aboard the U.S.S. Massey, DD 778. He was a Life Member of the “Tin
Can Sailors.” He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren, and also enjoyed socializing with his friends and former classmates. He
was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church.

Brian Grundy and his wife, Jody, of Berkley
Christopher Grundy and his fiancee, Christine Miceli, of Taunton
3 daughters: Maryanne Luz and her husband, Thomas, of North Dighton
Paula Rheaume and her husband, Fred, of Taunton
Melissa Dolloff and her husband, Ronald, of Taunton
1 sister: Anne Marie Murphy and her husband, Arthur, of East Taunton
22 grandchildren: Janelle, Jaclyn, Lauren, Allyson, Samantha, Meghan, Aaron, Jacob,
Kyle, Zachary, Abigail, Kyleigh, Christopher, Emma, and Matthew
Grundy, Jillian, Jeffrey and Jared Luz, Derick and Joshua Rheaume,
and Elizabeth and Jenifer Dolloff.
2 great grandchildren: Skylar and Logan Rheaume

Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street,
on Wednesday, March 18 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Rel-
atives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, from
4:00 to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be
made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 502 Bedford St., Fall River, Ma., 02720.
