Patricia M. (Merket) Courage, a 48 year resident of Melrose, died on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose following a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. She was 74 years old.
Patricia was born in Medford on January 6, 1935. She grew up in Medford where she attended Medford Public Schools and graduated from Medford High School in 1952. Patricia has been a homemaker, caring for her husband and children most of her life while battling her dreaded disease.
Patricia is the beloved wife of 52 years to Harold J. "Jack" Courage. She is the devoted mother of Deborah Doherty and her husband Gordon of Malden, David Courage and his wife Sharon of Methuen and Linda Surette and her husband Mark of Malden. She is the loving grandmother of 5 grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Katherine "Kay" Robinson and her husband Wilbur of Wakefield and the late Victor Kaelin. She is the beloved sister-in-law of Lois Gilligan of Melrose and Carol Kaelin of Everett. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Patricia's Funeral Service and burial will be private.
