Ernest V. Cugno, Sr. lifelong member of the Pipefitters Union Local 537, 82 years of Brockton died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Tufts Medical Center. He was the husband of Christine (MacIntyre) Cugno. Born and raised in Roxbury, a son of the late Luige and Betina (Paladino) Cugno. During WW II he served in the Army, receiving the Victory, Army of Occupation and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medals. Mr. Cugno has been employed by Local 537 Pipefitters from 1956 to retirement in 1986. He was a member of the VFW Post 1046 in Brockton and the DAV Life Member in Boston. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying all of our Boston teams. Ernest most of all enjoyed his home, spending time and sharing special occasions with his large family, he will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife Christine (MacIntyre) Cugno, he is survived by his children, Ernest V., Jr. and Faye Cugno of Holbrook; Patricia and Daniel Matta of Brockton; Jeanne and Rick Heenan of Brockton; Frederick Cugno of Quincy; Catherine and Peter DeIuliis; Chris and Marie Cugno and John and Nancy Cugno all of Brockton; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and his a brother Edward Cugno of Woburn. He was the father of the late Daniel Cugno and brother of the late Anthony, John and Arthur Cugno and Lucy Sullivan.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass in Christ the King Parish/St. Colman Church 10:30AM. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM.
