Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Marion H. (Hathaway) Boucher, 91, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 in the Seacoast Nursing & Retirement Center. She was the wife of the late Victor Boucher.
Born in Gloucester on May 30, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Wilmont and Frances (Walters) Hathaway. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she was a graduate of Gloucester High School and The Beautician’s Academy. After several years at her craft, she opened Marion’s Beauty Shop on Main Street, which she ran for decades. At the sudden passing of her husband, a restaurateur, in 1963, she assumed ownership of Lobsta Land on Route 128, where she worked along with her son.
In retirement, she enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, reading, bingo, TV and occasionally attending adult education classes. She also became a great bridge player. She had been a resident of Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the past 6 1/2 years.
She will be missed by her son, Gregory Burke of Boston, granddaughter, Leslie Strope of Sterling, VA, grandson, Darron Burke of Hyde Park and two great-grandchildren in Virginia. She is also survived by cousins, Elizabeth O’Maley Aiello, Jack O’Maley and Michael O’Maley all of Gloucester. She was predeceased by her sister, Alice Hathaway, and cousins, Margaret Frost and John Coyle, Jr.
Her funeral service will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
