Sister M. Margaret (Irene) Lamontagne, 81, a Sister of Mercy for 63 years, died Wednesday, March11th at Warde Health Center in Windham, NH. A native of Manchester, she was the daughter of Ernest and Victoria (Lavigne) Lamontagne.
Sister Margaret held B.A. and M.Ed. degrees in education from Mount Saint Mary College, Hooksett, NH. For more than 40 years she was a dedicated teacher in New Hampshire Catholic schools. Sister Margaret taught at St. Rose of Lima School in Littleton; St. Mary School in Claremont; Mount St. Mary Day School, St Raphael, McDonald, and St. Anthony schools, all in Manchester. From 1989 to 1999, she served as secretary at St. Mary Academy in Dover. She was a library assistant at Sacred Heart School in Hampton from 1999 until her retirement early this year.
Family members include an aunt, Mabel Lamontagne of Rye, NH, and several cousins.
Friends may call at the Warde Health Center, 21 Searles Road, Windham, NH, on Monday, March 16th, from 4 to 6 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at the Warde Health Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 17th, at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH. Arrangements are by the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
