Obituary

Edmond A. Drouin, 76, of Derry, NH died Wednesday March 11, 2009 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Drouin was born in Dover, NH on April 30, 1932 son of the late Adrien and Arline (Meehan) Drouin. He was a 1950 graduate of Dover High School and later graduated from the University of NH Class of 1955. He served with the US Army from 1955 to 1957 and has been a resident of Derry since 1959. Mr. Drouin retired in 1992 from Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. where he worked in the Boston and Portsmouth offices. He served as a lector and usher for Holy Cross Church in E. Derry and served on the steering committee. He also wrote the history of the church and had it published two years ago. Mr. Drouin volunteered his time for many years at the Manchester School of Technology. In addition to reading, writing and golfing, he enjoyed traveling all 50 states, Canada and Europe as well.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret "Peggy" Drouin of Derry, his son, David M. Drouin and his wife Cara of Milpitas, CA, his daughter, Diane M. Walton and her husband Michael of Durham, NC, three grandchildren, Joseph Drouin of Milpitas, CA, Justin Poe and Jared Poe, both of Durham, NC, his sister, Elaine Bernier of Dover, NH, and very close friends, Joseph, Janice, Jillian and Justin Cuff, all of Marshfield, MA.
There are no calling hours. A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday March 14th at 10:00am in Holy Cross Church, Derry. Following cremation, private burial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Church Building Fund, 187 Hampstead Rd., Derry, NH 03038. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling arrangements.
