Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Anna J. (Cottone) Graffeo, 86, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in the Beverly Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frank Graffeo who died in 1961.
Born in Gloucester on August 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agata (Ciaramitaro) Cottone. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and had attended Gloucester public schools.
Anna worked in quality control at the former Tadco Silk & Screen-printing Company for several years. She had also once worked at the former Cape Ann Fisheries. She spent her entire life helping others.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann M. and Raymond E. DePorter of Berwick, Maine and Bunny and Robert Laidlaw of Gloucester, one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony J. and Karen (Leavitt) Graffeo of New Hampshire, six grandchildren, with whom she had a special place in her heart, Dawn DePorter-Kimmence and her husband, Donald Kimmence, Tanya and her husband, John Houghton, Troy and his wife, Kate DePorter, Monique Laidlaw and her fiancée, Adam Kitchin, Aaron DePorter and Frank and his wife, Tara Graffeo, two sisters-in-law, Elsi and Grace Cottone both of San Pedro, CA and among the many nieces and nephews are three special nieces, Grace Moceri, Joanne Taveira and Ann Marie Ferrante. She was also predeceased by four brothers, Salvatore and his wife, Rose Cottone, Leo Cottone, James Cottone and Joseph Cottone and a sister, Mary and her husband, Carlo Moceri.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, Concord Street, Gloucester at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to The Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Assoc., 11-15 Parker St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
