Leonard Joseph LeValley, 50, of Boston formerly of New Bedford died unexpectedly at home. He was the son of Myra D. (Peters) LeValley of New Bedford and the late Raymond LeValley.
Born and raised in New Bedford, he lived in Boston for many years. He later lived in New Bedford from 1996-2001, before returning to Boston.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Boston.
Mr. LeValley was formerly employed as the controller for Horticulture Magazine in Boston for many years. He later was the proprietor of Advanced Glass and Mirror Company in Fairhaven for several years.
He was a graduate of Holy Family High School and Kinyon-Campbell Business School and attended Southeastern Massachusetts University. He was involved with the AIDS Action Committee in Boston, where he served as a volunteer and mentor. He was also involved with the Living Center in Boston. While living in New Bedford, he served as accountant for the Greater Fall River AIDS Fund and assistant manager of the Fall River/New Bedford AIDS Fund Thrift Store on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford.
Len was a loving and outgoing person and an avid New England sports fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces.
Survivors include his mother; his sister and dear friend, Anne Tremblay of New Bedford; 3 brothers, Paul LeValley and his wife Lori, and Raymond LeValley, all of New Bedford, and Thomas LeValley and his wife JoLene of Northport, Florida; 2 nephews, 5 nieces, a great-niece, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2003, at a place and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Len's name may be made to the AIDS Action Committee, 131 Clarendon Street, Boston, MA 02116.
