Catherine L. Devine passed away at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on March 9th, 2009. She was born on January 29th, 1941 to her parents James E. and Margaret L. (Sullivan) Dooling. Catherine was raised and educated in Malden, graduating from Cheverus Grammar School and Cheverus High School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline. Catherine has been a resident of Melrose since 1965. For many years, she worked as a Manager at New England Telephone. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed her annual vacations to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Catherine is survived by her husband, James T. Devine; by her daughter, Deirdre Devine of Melrose; by her brother, James E. Dooling and his wife Renate of Newton; and by her niece, Kerry Smith of Richmond, Virginia. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday March 13th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Stoneham. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday March 12th from 4-8 PM.
