Madison, New Jersey – Clare E. (Murphy) Murphy, 86, formerly of Methuen, Massachusetts, died following a short illness on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey.
Mrs. Murphy was the daughter of Russell and Rose (O’Neill) Murphy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Maurice Brendon Murphy.
For many years Mrs. Murphy was employed as a secretary at Local Union 326 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
She is survived by her two daughters: Maureen C. and husband Charles M. Brain of McLean, VA, both formerly of Methuen, and their sons John and Michael, and Patricia A. and husband Stephen J. Lavinio of Madison, NJ, and their daughters Jennifer Lendvai-Lintner and husband Geza, Sarah and Katherine Lavinio; sisters Elizabeth Smith of Winchendon and Bernice Sullivan of Methuen; brothers Laurence Murphy of Methuen and Paul Murphy of North Andover and his wife Ruth.; sisters-in-law Mary Murphy of Methuen, Claire Murphy of Lawrence, Patricia Ciofolo of Methuen, and Mary Murphy of Salisbury Beach. Blessed with a large extended family, Mrs. Murphy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Murphy was predeceased by her brothers Russell, Bernard, and Charles Murphy and her sister Arlene Hillard.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday morning at 9 o’clock at Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects on Thursday from 4-8 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen, MA.
