Obituary

Ruth Mildred (Wahlstrom) Swanborg, 93, died Saturday, June 7, at the Beaumont Nursing Home.

Her husband, E. Harry Swanborg, predeceased her. She leaves her daughter, Doris Hoyer of Shrewsbury; a son, Dr. Robert Swanborg of Clinton Township, Michigan; a brother, Gustav Wahlstrom; a sister, Elsie Albanese; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, daughter of Gustaf A. and Hulda (Muller) Wahlstrom.

An employee of the J.C. Penney Company and Chase Manhattan Bank, Mrs. Swanborg lived much of her life in Brooklyn, New York. She was active in her home parishes in Brooklyn, NY; Delmar, NY; and at Trinity Lutheran Church, Worcester; a member of the parish choirs, and a Sunday school teacher. In her retirement, Mrs. Swanborg tutored children in reading.

A Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester. Donations to aid those affected by September 11, may be made to the Lutheran Disaster Response of New York, 475 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10115. Nordgren Memorial Chapel (www.NordgrenMemorialChapel.com), 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, is directing arrangements.
