Dorothy J. Bedard, a lifelong resident of Mansfield died on Saturday March 7, 2009 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of Raymond F. Bedard to whom she wed on February 28, 1948.
Born Attleboro, MA on December 5, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Lois (Reed) Goyea.
She was educated in Mansfield schools and was a 1946 graduate of Mansfield High School. Mrs. Bedard was a retired Data Processor and had worked at the Foxboro Co. for 30 years before retiring in 1985 and was a member of the Companies 25 year club. When she was younger she had worked for several years at the former S.W. Card Co. in Mansfield before leaving to raise her family.
An avid reader, Dorothy also enjoyed the challenge of solving Sudoko puzzles. Her favorite times spent were those in the presence of her loving family, especially with the grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband she is survived by her devoted daughters Valerie J. Terenzi and her husband Ed of Mansfield and Donna M. Jackson and her husband Ray of Norton. She was the dear sister of Arlene Smith of Trevett, Maine and the late Robert Goyea and was the adoring grandmother of Kristen Masiello of Burrillville, R.I., Jennifer Izzo of Bellingham, Paul Terenzi of Rumford, R.I.., Brian Jackson of Shrewsbury and Kelly Jackson of Groton. Also surviving are her cherished great grandchildren Jess, Derek, Ryenne, Will, Nolan, Alex and Marissa.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday March 11th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
Private funeral services with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton will be held at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers Dorothy’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Community Visiting Agency, Inc. 10 Emory St. Attleboro, MA 02703 or the Oncology Dept. at Sturdy Memorial Hospital 211 Park St. Attleboro, MA 02703.
