Obituary

Mieczyslaw A. "Mike" Galanek, 84, of Dartmouth died Thursday June 5, 2003 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth after a long illness.

He was the husband of Kazimiera "Cassie" (Patla) Galanek.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Wladyslaw and Weronika (Darmitka) Galanek, he lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of his life.

He was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church in New Bedford.

Mr. Galanek was formerly employed by the Town of Dartmouth in the Highway Department for 15 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Polish National Alliance.

Mr. Galanek enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Veronica H. Wainwright, and her husband Charles, of Oxford, Maryland; 2 sons, Mitchell S. Galanek, and his wife Laurie, of Plymouth and Paul C. Galanek, and his wife Susan, of Trappe, Maryland; 3 sisters-in-law, Jenny Galanek and Helen Patla, both of New Bedford and Rose Galanek of Acushnet; a close friend, Frank Sylvia of Dartmouth; 8 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Henry Galanek, Stanley Galanek and Casimir Galanek.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday, June 9th at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Hedwig Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Sunday, June 8th from 4-7 PM.

Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery.
