Worcester- Subodh Chandra Das, 86, of 22 B Benham Street, died Thursday, June 5, in Radius Healthcare Center, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 71 years, Anita (SinhaRoy) Das; two sons, Gautam Das of Houston and Uttam Das of Worcester; four daughters, Bharati Dutta of Windsor, Ontario, Banani Sarkar of Shaktinagar, India, Shibani Das of Toronto, Ontario, and Archana Das of St. Paul, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, son of Jay-Chandra and Swarnalata (Basu) Das, and graduated from Calcutta University. He moved here in 1993.
He was a scientist in the leather industry in India, retiring in 1982. He wrote articles on leather technology publications. He had been a professor at the School of Leather Technology in India. After retirement, he was an advisor to the Government of Punjab State in India.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in the Ellen Rogers Kennedy Chapel of Rural Cemetery, 180 Grove Street. Calling hours are from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street.
