HUNT, EMILY "OTIE" (BEAM), 84, was born October 17, 1924, to Wilmer B. Beam and Mary Joyce Gritton in Bloomfield, KY. Otie left this world Sunday, March 1, 2009, surrounded by her family.
Their love for her helped her cross from this world to once again walk hand-in-hand with her beloved Raymond. Otie lived her entire childhood in Bloomfield, along with her four siblings. She met her husband, MSGT Raymond M. Hunt (U.S. Army retired) on a blind date in Louisville, in 1943. They married on January 1, 1944, and began their life together traveling the world over in the service of our country. She was a dedicated military wife, mother, and federal employee at Fort Knox Army Base. She was a member of Briargate Presbyterian Church for over 40 years where she was an elder and active with the Women Council. She was always thinking of ways to improve the mission of the church and how to reach out to the community. You could find her with her hands in dish water after pot luck or developing programs such as Mom's Day Out. She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond M. Hunt; a son, Donald L. Hunt; and three brothers, Billy Mac, Joseph C. and Terry A. Beam.
Survivors include her five children, Raymond "Corky" Hunt Jr. (Dana), Michael C. Hunt (Beth), Terry M. Hunt (Jean), Joy L. Hornback (Bob), and Bonnie S. Hendricks (Rick); a brother, Sam J. Beam; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and she was eager for the birth of her soon expected 11th great grandchild.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Briargate Presbyterian Church, 2100 Upper Hunters Trace, with burial in Beth Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy.
The family would like to give thanks to the wonderful Hosparus care givers and the caring staff of the Nazareth Home.
