Obituary

Elbert Wade Rainey, 77 of Clarksville died Wednesday March 4, 2009 at Gateway Medical Center.
Services will be Saturday, 10 am, March 7, 2009 at Neal-Tarpley Chapel, with Dr. Roger Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am until the hour of service.
He was born, Sept. 15, 1931 in Corinth Miss., son of Arnold Leon Rainey and Modena Essary Rainey.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Civil Service at Fort Campbell and worked part-time at Wal-Mart.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Clarksville, past member of St. B. Civitan, member of Masonic Lodge #89, charter board member of St. B. Little League, member of the Baracca Sunday School Class, an ordained deacon, and an avid supporter of University of Memphis, APSU and Rossview High School Athletics.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife’s parents Marlin and Esber Wilbanks.
He is survived by his wife Aliene Wilbanks Rainey, two sons Glen Elbert Rainey and Michael Wade Rainey (Donna) all of Clarksville, one sister Lyvonne Hodum of Corinth, Miss and three grandchildren Michael Wade, Jr, Layne Rainey and Brian Davidson.
Pallbearers will be Brian Davidson, Wade Rainey, Maxey Myers, Rick Martin, Rubin Bumpus, J. W. Smith ,Kevin Fowler and Ralph Conklin. Honorary pallbearers will the members of Baracca Class.
