Worcester - Robert “Bob” Carter, 74, formerly of Uxbridge MA and Stockton MO, peacefully passed away March 3, 2009 after an illness surrounded by his family.
He leaves his beloved children; Brooks Robert Carter of Worcester, Deborah “Debye” Carter Pannekeet of Putnam, CT and Carelle Carter of Winthrop, MA and his grandchildren; Christopher and Stephen, Daniel and Devon, and Mike and Dori.
He is survived by his sister Marianne Carter Lowry and her husband Harvie “Ted” of St. Michaels, MD and several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Tulsa Oklahoma, son of Marjorie Carter (Browne) and Walter Paul Spielberger. Bob graduated from Boston English High School, Boston MA and Husson College, Bangor ME. Bob served active duty in the U.S. Air Force for six years in the 1950’s before continuing service with the Air National Guard retiring at Pease Air Force Base, Portsmouth NH, serving 35 years for his country. Robert started and established “Carter Insurance Agency” in Uxbridge MA for 20 years before semi-retiring to a second career as a General Contractor, remodeling homes in Stockton MO. Bob enjoyed boating, bowling, golfing, and traveling to the Florida Keys and Falmouth MA with family and friends, and past winters enjoyed the sunny warmth of New Port Richey, Florida.
A Memorial Service in memory of Bob’s life will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester MA 01605 on Friday, March 13, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be private.
