Rita A. (Godin) Cote 84, of Old Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland died recently in Emerald Bay Manor. She was the wife of Gustave C. Cote. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in December of last year. She was born in Woonsocket the daughter of the late George and Aurore (Labrie) Godin. Mrs. Cote was a North Smithfield resident most of her life. She was an executive secretary at the Providence Journal for twenty five years before retiring in 1989. Mrs. Cote worked for many years as an executive secretary prior to her employment at the Providence Journal. During those years, she traveled with her husband and his employment in Boston, Philadelphia and Manchester NH. She enjoyed travel, and traveled extensively around the globe. She started Rit-Co Travel in North Smithfield and continued that business for many years. Afterward, she would continue to indulge in her love of travel. Mrs. Cote was a very active member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association, serving two terms as president.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A private service for Rita was held in St Dominic’s Chapel at Providence College. Interment followed in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham MA.
