Methuen, MA- Mary T. (Mulligan) Bennett, 99, a long time resident of Methuen and recently a resident of the Inn at Robins Brooke in Acton, MA, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA.
Born and educated in Lawrence, MA, Mary was the daughter of John and Helena (Keating) Mulligan. Mary graduated from Lawrence High School and then the Lowell Normal School for teaching. Years later she attended and graduated from Calvin Coolidge College. For over 20 years, Mary was a teacher for the Methuen School System and also gave Historical tours of Methuen in her spare time.
More then anything, Mary loved her family and spending time with them.
The widow of R. Frank Bennett, Mary is survived by her children, Mary Ann Akam and her husband G. Robert of FL, Barbara Ciaraldi, the widow of the late Samuel Ciaraldi of Salem, NH, Ellen and her husband William Murdock of Littleton, MA, and Frances and her husband Bud of CA. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, Karen, Robert, Kristen, Cynthia, Michael, Carolyn, Lisa, Paula, Nancy, Kathryn, Meghann, Leslie and Matthew, as well as 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was also pre-deceased by her sisters, Margaret Sugden, Helen Cleveland, and Claire Mulligan.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday morning, March 7, 2009, from 9-10:45, with a Mass of Christan Burial to follow at 11 AM at St. Monica’s church in Methuen.
