Obituary

Diane Pafford Bell, 55, of Boston, formerly of Medfield, MA, and originally Knoxville, TN, died peacefully at home on March 3, 2009, following a courageous battle with metastatic sarcoma.

Beloved wife, life partner, and soul-mate of Alan Bell for 29 years. Beloved and adored mother of Dave Bell, Amanda Steinhandler, and her husband Andrew. Loving sister of Gene Pafford.

Diane attended the University of Tennessee and Tulane University School of Public Health where she received a Masters in Public Health and Doctor of Science in Public Health/Nutrition.

Diane’s professional interests culminated in a medical writing career. She began as a Hospital Dietician and Pediatric Pulmonary Nutritionist and then entered academics as a Professor of Nutrition at Texas Women’s University and Instructor of Nutrition at Framingham State. Later, as a Renal Dietician, Diane was poised to enter pharmaceutical medical writing.

Past President of the New England chapter of American Medical Writers Association, her hobbies and interests included travel, theatergoing, attending symphony and ballet, reading, tennis, skiing, walking, and participation in the Jimmy Fund Walkathon.

An 11:30 am memorial service will be held Friday, March 6 at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street, Medfield, MA, with a reception to follow.
