Obituary

Philip N. Harrington, a lifelong Newton resident, died on Mar 2, 2009 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital. He was 88.
Mr. Harrington graduated from Newton High School in 1939 and served as a Staff Sgt with the 514th Fighter Squadron of the Army Air Corps during WW II. He worked for many years as an office machine salesman for Remington-Rand and later was a partner and salesman for Associated Business Equipment of Wellesley. He was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Newton where he served as head usher and was recently named Trustee Emeritus of the church. He also was a member of the Hunnewell Club of Newton and the Newton Men’s Bowling League.
Beloved husband for 60 years of Margie (Oiler) Harrington, he is survived by his children Susan A. Harrington and Donald N. Harrington both of Newton, his sister Mary H. Harris of Concord, NH and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donald W. Harrington.
A funeral service will be held on Sat Mar 7 at 11 AM in the United Methodist Church of Newton 430 Walnut St. Newtonville. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER on Fri 4-8 PM. Interment Newton Cemetery.
