Eleanor R. (Hutton) Gillis, 83, of Prescott Street, N. Andover, MA died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at the Lawrence General Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on May 29, 1920 in Hampstead, NH, a daughter of the late William E. and Ruby E. (Houston) Hutton. She was a resident of N. Andover for two years, formerly living in Libertyville, IL. Eleanor attended Pinkerton Academy in Derry and graduated from Nashua High School, Class of 1940. She also attended the Elliot Hospital School of Nursing in Manchester. While living in Libertyville, IL, she was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was predeceased in 2001 by her husband Harry A. Gillis, who was an economist.
She is survived by her daughter Diane West, Antioch, TN, two sisters, Mildred H. Loveitt, Gorham, ME, Virginia E. Fitzpatrick, E. Falmouth, MA, two sisters-in-law, Thelma Hutton, Londonderry, NH, Joy Norton, Ohio, her dear friend, Cathryn O’Brien, Libertyville, IL, many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is handling the arrangements.
