HAVERHILL: James T. Rogers, 85, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at his home following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Rita C. (McCarthy) Rogers who died in 1994.
Born in Newbury on February 2, 1924, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Tracy) Rogers. He has resided in Haverhill for over forty years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he fought at the Battle of the Bulge before being honorably discharged.
Mr. Rogers was employed as a layout operator at the former AT&T in North Andover for over twenty years before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed gardening, sports and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret E. Rogers of Milo, Maine, his son and daughter-in-law, James T. and Karen A. Rogers of Plaistow, New Hampshire, two granddaughters, Katelynn T. and Courtney A. Rogers both of Plaistow, a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Betty Rogers of Byfield, a sister, Eleanor Pepin of Byfield and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by four brothers, George, Walter, John and Thomas Rogers, two sisters, Mary Stevens and Theresa Searles and a grandson, Sean Rogers.
His funeral services will be privately held on Wednesday in the St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. At the family’s request, there are no visiting hours.
