Lavon (Carey) Blakeman, 81, widow of John Blakeman, Sr., entered into eternal rest, Sunday, March 1, 2009.
Born in Danville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Matilda Carey. She was a member of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church where she was a founding member of the Bus Ministry. She was an award-winning baker who competed for several years in the KY State Fair, just recently being awarded the Sweepstakes Ribbon this past year.
She is survived by her son, John Blakeman Jr. (Becky); grandchildren, Jennifer Driscoll (Andy), Lee Blakeman, Katie Blakeman and Luke Blakeman; great-granddaughter Amelia Driscoll; a special niece, Carleen Bryant; and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 am Thurs. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial to follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceburg, KY.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Wednesday.
