In Taunton, February 28, 2009 Lynn M. (Rivers) McCarthy died after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer at the age of 38. She was the wife of Timothy McCarthy of Berkley. Lynn was born in Taunton to her parents Robert and Gail (Woodward) Rivers of Berkley. She has lived all of her life in Berkley and graduated from Somerset High School. After 17 years of employement at Shaw's Supermarket, she made the decision to further her education at Rhode Island Hospital for Radiology in 2005. Lynn also received a MRI certificate from Massasoit College. Lynn worked as a x-ray technician at Charleton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, as well as Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for the past four years. She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Dighton. Lynn's passion was spending time with her two beautiful girls, husband, and family. She also enjoyed listening to music, traveling and eating out. Lynn was also known for her keen sense of humor, which she displayed up until her final day. Those who knew Lynn, knew her as a very kind, caring and inspirational woman who touched the lives of so many. "Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present"-Bill Keene Lynn leaves her two children Meghan and Katelyn McCarthy. She is also survived by her brother Robert Rivers Jr. of Chula Vista, CA, and sister Kristen (Rivers) Pires of Somerset, MA. She also had many in-law's, nieces and nephews in which she deeply cared for. The Funeral will be held at O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 8:30am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Nicholas Of Myra in Dighton at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday from 4-7pm. Interment St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton. In leau of flowers, donations may be made in Lynn's memory at any Webster Bank location c/o the McCarthy Children College Fund.
