WORCESTER-Charles H. Carlson, Jr., 83, formerly of 104 May Street died Wednesday, June 4th in Jewish Healthcare Center after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Olga M. (Budzinski) Carlson; a daughter Ruth O. McGinn of Worcester; 2 grandchildren, Charles W. McGinn of Worcester and Robert J. McGinn of Franklin; many cousins.
He was born in Worcester the son of Charles H. Carlson, Sr. and Marguerite (Flynn) Carlson and has lived here his whole life. He graduated from Commerce High School and attended the Worcester Branch of North Eastern University. Mr. Carlson worked for the Norton Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1985. Previously he worked as a meat cutter for the former West Street Market and was the owner and operator of Carlson Market on Belmont Street. He was a founding member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and its men’s club. He was a member of the Greendale Men’s Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and walking.
The funeral will be Saturday, June 7th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, June 6th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
