Helen M. Madancy, formerly of North Providence died peacefully in her final sleep and ascended into her eternal home Friday surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo Madancy for 54 years.
Born in Mapleville, she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Mary (Dickey) Young. She moved to North Providence and had resided there for 54 years. She had worked at the former Stillwater Worsted and Allendale Mills and retired from the North Providence High School.
Helen was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church, North Providence, a member of the St. Ann’s Solidarity and a cribbage player at the Sal Mancini Center. She had also belonged to the Secret Pals Club of Multiple Charities for 30 years. She was an avid believer of St. Jude and his beliefs.
She is survived by her sons, John L. Madancy, Sr. and his wife Kay and George M. Madancy, brothers, George J. Young and his wife Ruth of Live Oak, FL, Mathias Young and his wife Vangie, sister, Lillian Haigh both of Mapleville, sister-in-law, Eunice Young of Glocester, and several nieces and nephews and grandchildren; Jack, Angie, Mary Ann, Greg, Lori, and Steve and 12 great grandchildren. Dear Nana will always say hi from heaven with Papa. She was the sister of the late Charles, Harrison, Leo, and Leroy Young, Medora Bethiaume, Ruth Vezina, Doris Gaus-Doyon and Amy Guilbault.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 11am in the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. Visitation Tuesday 9-11am. Inurnment will be in Highland Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
