James E. McCarron Jr., a lifelong Taunton resident, died Wednesday, February 25th 2009 at the Dighton Nursing Center, after a brief illness. He was 87 years of age. He was the former husband of Joanne (Doherty) Schuttauf. He was born in Taunton. Son of the late James E. McCarron Sr. and Louise (Driscoll) McCarron. He was employed for over 15 years at the Taunton Post Office as a mail clerk. At one time he also owned his own business, James McCarron Real Estate. He was a graduate of Coyle High School. He was a veteran of WWII US Army. He received the Pacific Theater Campaign Medal, EAMST with two Bronze Service, and also received the Bronze Star Medal. He served in the Rhineland, Central Europe in the 68th Armored Infantry Battalion. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who he adored. He also loved dogs and enjoyed watching sports. He is survived by two sons, William McCarron and his wife Linda of Taunton and Christopher McCarron and his wife Cynthia of N. Dighton. He leaves one sister Mary Lou Heher of Taunton. He leaves four grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, Stephen, and Lindsay McCarron. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 3rd 2009 at 11:30am at the Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St (off Tremont St). Relatives and friends invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 5-8pm.
