HAVERHILL: Anna L. (Steindl) Marcelonis, 82, died Thursday evening, February 26, 2009 in the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen following a long courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the wife of the late Albert P. Marcelonis who died in October 2001. They were married in 1949 and shared fifty-two years of marriage.
Born in Lawrence on February 13, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Orlosky) Steindl. She had resided in Haverhill since 1943. Anna was a graduate of Haverhill High School class of 1945 and the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing class of 1948.
Anna was employed as a registered nurse on the maternity floor of the former Hale Hospital from 1948 to 1968. She had also worked as a teacher’s aide for the Haverhill School Department for twenty-two years before her retirement in 1990. Anna enjoyed crafts, knitting, sewing and she especially loved to read. She was also a communicant of St. James Parish.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Justine A. and Paul A. Caron of Atkinson, NH, a son and daughter-in-law, Peter J. and Peg Marcelonis of Plaistow, NH, five grandchildren, Matthew and his wife, Rena Caron of Northwood, NH, Sean and his wife, Chrissy Caron of Epping, NH, Arielle Wolfe of Plaistow, Dana Wolfe of Silver Spring, MD and Kyla Anne Marcelonis of Plaistow, three great-grandchildren, Danica Caron of Epping, and Silas and Hazel Jean Tracy both of Plaistow, a sister, Norma Amshey of Daytona Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the St. James Parish, 161 Winter St., Haverhill at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill from 2-4 and 6–8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
