Salem: Charles E. Levesque, age 80 of Salem, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Giselle A. (Berube) Levesque.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Alfred J. and Dellia (Dandurand) Levesque. Charlie was a veteran of 2 wars. He served with the Army in W.W. II and during the Korean Conflict. Following his military career he settled in Berlin, NH and returned to Salem after his marriage. He was employed as a machinist for the former Attwood & Morrill Co. of Salem until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the VFW Post 1524 and the Palmer Cove Yacht Club both of Salem.
He is survived by a daughter Janine Gastonguay and her husband Joel of Beverly, 2 brothers, Jean A. Levesque of Salem, and George Levesque of Winchendon, a grandson Michael Gastonguay of Beverly and nieces and nephews and members of the Berube family. Charlie is also survived by his long time loving companion, Marie Buonfiglio of Salem, and her devoted children Diane O’Donnell, Barbara Pelletier, Paula Tassinari, John and Richard Buonfiglio all of Salem & Susan Standley of Beverly. He was predeceased by a son Peter C. Levesque, 2 bothers, Raymond & Peter Levesque and a sister, Jeannette Girard.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 8 a.m. to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 a.m. Visiting hours: Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
