Obituary

Woburn, Hugh F. “Hughie” Doherty, age 87 of Woburn, passed away Monday at the Winchester Hospital following a short illness. Mr. Doherty was born in Woburn, the son of the late Hugh and the late Maryann (McLaughlin) Doherty. He was a life long resident of Woburn and faithfull parishioner of St. Anthony Church. He was U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Doherty worked for many years in the Security Dept. of the Raytheon Corp. Mr. Doherty enjoyed vacationing during the summer months at Old Orchard Beach in Maine, He was also a member of the Winchester V.F.W. Post 3719. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Doherty´s memory to the Woburn Nursing Center Activity Fund, 18 Francis St., Woburn, MA 01801

Mr. Doherty was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice (Amo) and is survived by one brother; John E. Doherty of Somerville and is preceded in death by two sisters; Margaret Magennis, Theresa Riendeau and two brothers, James J. And Daniel F. Doherty. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and two sister-in-laws; Marguerite Thompson of Winchester and Lois MacKenzie of Stoneham.

Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Thursday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Wednesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
