Mrs. Virginia D., Saunders, 89 of Somerville, died Wednesday at her late residence. She is the wife of the late John Saunders. Mrs. Saunders was born in Eldon, IA. daughter of the late Morris and the late Edna Swords.
She was an active member of the First Church Congregational in Somerville. A member of the Odds and Ends, the Coenunia and Forthian Clubs, she was also very active as a volunteer at the Somerville Hospital where she also worked in the gift shop. Mrs. Saunders was a member of the Board of Directors of the Somerville Home for the Aged. She enjoyed spending quality time in the company of her family and grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Ardolino and her husband Jerry of Somerville and a son Jon Terry Saunders and his wife Diana of VA. 3 grandchildren, Kristen and Marc Ardolino and Meghan Saunders. Sister of the late Gaylord "Mike" Swords, Maxine Potter and Shirley Howard. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 at Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A funeral service will be held in the First Congregational Church Of Somerville, 89 College Avenue, Somerville, Monday at 10:00 am. Contributions in Virginia’s name may be sent to First Congregational Church of Somerville Memorial Fund, 89 College Avenue, Somerville MA. 02144. Services will conclude with burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
