Helen J. (Reed) Brotherton 86 years of East Bridgewater, died Tuesday February 24, 2008 at the Nemasket Healthcare Center in Middleboro. She was the wife of the late Wallace Brotherton. Born in Boston and raised in Brockton, Helen was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Starr) Reed and was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1940. For many years she had been a resident of East Bridgewater.
Helen had worked for many years in the shoe industry as a stitcher at Alden Products in Middleboro and Dartmouth Shoe in Brockton. She loved to read and enjoyed music and singing, and always had a couple of dogs to care for. When her husband was living she enjoyed camping with their trailer.
Helen is survived by her daughter Karen A. Otico and her husband Douglas of Middleboro, a granddaughter Heather E, Coots of East Bridgewater and a nephew. She was the sister of the late John Reed, Jr. and Madeline Gibson.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 8am. Funeral Mass In St. John Church, East Bridgewater at 9am. Burial in Central Cemetery.
