Diane M. (Rochefort) McMullen, 58 years, of West Bridgewater, a beloved wife, mother and Memere, died unexpectedly February 24, 2009 in her home. She and her husband Thomas A. McMullen spent 34 years building a family and a home filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Born and raised in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Loretta G. (Piche) Rochefort. Diane graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s High School in Fall River, received her Bachelors Degree in English from Stonehill College and her Masters Degree in Education from Cambridge College. Her career as an educator began with a position as an English teacher at the Mulcahey Middle School in Taunton. She worked for many years in the field of adult basic education and spent the past 15 years working at Bristol Community College, with her most recent position as the Dean of Literacy. Diane was dedicated to the pursuit of increasing access to educational opportunities for adult learners and all community members, valuing every individual’s right to obtain an education and enrich their lives. Diane had a lifelong passion for learning, which she instilled in her daughters and grandson.
Her most important role was that of mother to Katherine Brandt of Center Barnstead, NH and Loren McMullen of Franklin, MA and Memere to Noah Thomas Brandt. She is also survived by her brother, David Rochefort of Seekonk, a niece, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 9am. Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, W. Bridgewater at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
