FRANKLIN Dohn A. Cluff, 83, of Franklin, died suddenly, Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at his home. He was the husband of the late Marilyn A. (Mahoney) Cluff, who died in 2003.
Born in Rochester, N.H., Sept. 4, 1925, a son of the late Algien and Lora (Perrault) Cluff, he lived in Franklin since 1974. He was raised and educated in Maine, and was a 1943 graduate of Sanford, Maine, High School.
Mr. Cluff spent his working lifetime in the textile industry. He was employed as a purchaser for several former area textile companies. He was also an accomplished artist. Working with pencil and color, he was well known for his drawings of many Franklin landmarks. Many of his sketches were frequently on display in the lobby of the Benjamin Franklin Bank, and he also was available for private hire.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attained the rank of yeoman second class, and was honorably discharged in June 1946.
He was a founding member of the Sanford, Maine, VFW Post, and was a longtime member of St. George Episcopal Church, Sanford, Maine, vestry committee. Mr. and Mrs. Cluff were married in St. George Church on Sept. 14, 1946.
He is survived by a son, Peter A. Cluff of Newton; a daughter, Audrey A. Miller of Belchertown; and two grandchildren.

Due to winter conditions in Maine, his funeral service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 11 a.m., in St. George Episcopal Church, 3 Emerson St., Sanford, Maine.
Interment with military honors will be held at the family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Springvale, Maine.
