Alphonse Burokas 88, recently of Marshfield died February 25, following a short illness. Beloved husband of the late Irene (Walad) Burokas, devoted father of James Burokas and his wife Kathleen of Marshfield. Brother of Francis Burokas of Newton and the late Benjamin Burokas (WW II). Also survived by three grandchildren Elizabeth of Washington DC, Pauline of New York and James of Marshfield.
Born in Cambridge, MA, Mr. Burokas lived 29 years in South Boston and retired to South Yarmouth in l979. He was an employee of the United States Postal Service for 28 years. A WWII veteran and former l0th Mountain Division Ski Trooper. Mr. Burokas was the proud son of Lithuanian immigrants. His love for Lithuanian history and language was reflected in the many lessons taught to his son and grandchildren. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the Lithuanian-American Community, Inc.
Funeral from the MacDonald Funeral Home, l755 Ocean St., rte. l39, Marshfield Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of The Assumption Church at l0 a.m.
Visiting hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m.
A private interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
