TAUNTON – John C. Leonard, husband of Karlyne A. (Draheim) Leonard, died at Morton Hospital on Feb. 24, 2009.
He was 62.
Born in Portland, OR, he was the son of the late Bernard B. and Catherine A. (Connolly) Leonard.
Raised in South Boston, he lived in NC for a while before moving to the Taunton area in 20002.
A U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of the Viet Nam War, he was later employed by Gillette for many years.
A recipient of the Purple Heart, he was a member of the VFW Post 611 and DAV Chapter 57, both of Taunton and the Metro South Detachment of the Marine Corp League.
A life member of the American Legion Post 405 of Raynham, he enjoyed playing cards and fishing.
Besides his wife, he leaves 4 sons, Mark J. Leonard and his wife Jessie of Jacksonville, NC, John C. Leonard, Jr. and his wife Lori of Taunton, Scott M. Leonard of Taunton, and Kenneth J. Leonard and Jil Medeiros of Sandwich; a brother, Burke Leonard of Salem; and 3 grandchildren, Riley, Hailie and Ty Leonard.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, March 2nd at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at the MA National VA Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m.
