Michael Hermanovich Sr., 79, of Sturges, died Monday afternoon in Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. His wife is the former Irene Harcharik. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on Feb. 19.
Born in Sturges, son of the late George and Ann Katcho Hermanovich, he was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, Olyphant. He was employed as a pipe fitter for General Dynamics before retirement.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of the VFW Shopa-Davey Post 6082 and the American Legion Olyphant Post 0327. He enjoyed planting in his vegetable garden and playing cards with his friends and family. He also enjoyed camping for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are a son, Michael Jr., Archbald; a daughter, Christine Troiani and husband, Sal, Lake Ariel; two brothers, George, Mayfield; and William; a twin sister, Theresa Powell, Binghamton, N.Y.; and five granddaughters, Amanda and Audrey Hermanovich, Thea, Kayla and Kimberly Troiani.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Stephen; and a sister, Irene Smith.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Requiem Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, River Street, Olyphant, by the Rev. Nestor Iwasiw. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.
