Ruth (Bent) McAvoy, 85, a former longtime resident of North Andover, MA. died on Monday, February 23, 2009 at The Oxford in Haverhill, MA.
She is survived by two daughters Cynthia Krouskroup and her husband George from Amesbury, MA. Judy Harnden and her husband Richard of Salem, NH. The late Gail McAvoy from Cambridge, MA. Two grand children Sarah Harnden of Laconia, NH and Jeffrey Harnden of Sandiego, California. Also survived by her brother Seargeant Major Norman S. Bent retired of Denver Colorado, two sisters: Christine Witts and Barbara Furnari both of North Andover, MA. as well as several nieces and nephews, and nephew the late Tee Furnari of Hartland, Vt. Her adopted grand daughter Denise Murray of Lawrence, MA.
She served in the United States Navy (Waves) during WWII, obtaining the Rank of Yeoman second class.
She was cared for in her late years by her exhusband Wilfred McAvoy.
There will be no funeral services at the request of the deceased. Her remains were donated to Harvard Medical School for medical research.
