Roberta M. Mack, 80, of the Bowen’s Mill Christian Community in Ben Hill County died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, February 26 at The Gathering Place at Bowen's Mill Christian Center with Rev John Hinson and Rev Jimmy Fant officiating. Interment will follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mack was born June 19, 1928 in Bisbee, Arizona to the late Harold Miller and the late Susan Starns Jacobsen. She graduated from high school in Daly City, CA and attended Bethany Bible School in Santa Cruz, CA. Mrs. Mack was raised by parents who were active in the Salvation Army. This upbringing led her to do mission work with children in Hawaii in the 1950’s. She moved to the Bowen’s Mill Christian community thirty-one years ago from Eupora, MS.
She is survived by her husband, Claude A. Mack of the Bowen’s Mill Christian community; daughters & sons-in-law, Lois Ann Mack and Jessica & Matthew Sanchez, all of Lubbock, TX and Maureen & Daniel Yordy of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Kyle E. Yordy, Johanna Yordy, Katrina Yordy, Breanna Sanchez and James A. Yordy; brothers, Harold Miller of Medford, OR and Peter Jacobsen of Salinas, CA; sisters, Miriam Massey of Denair, CA, Susan Story of Meridian, TX, Erma Honsalek, Duncanville, TX and Jennifer Henke of Richmond, CA. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by stepfather, Hans Nils Jacobsen and a brother, Stanley L. Miller.
