Dan Lamar Smith, 66, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Tifton, died Sunday, February 22, 2009, at Nathan Adelson Hospice - West in Las Vegas, Nevada. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Our Divine Saviour Catholic Church. Father Alfonso Gutierrez will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Christopher Jackson, Tony Karam, Michael Smith, Danny Ross, Mono Smith and Tommy Pittman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Manago and John Jackson. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Smith was born on August 20, 1942 in Tifton and was the son of Joseph Mono Smith and Dola Lawson Sapp-Smith, both deceased. He was a retired attorney and a United States Army veteran.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Manago Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; one son, Michael L. Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Roger Dill of Tifton; and one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph M. "Buddy" and Jeffrey Smith of Tifton.
