Mrs. Barbara Sablone 74, of Boston’s North End died Monday in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She is the wife of James J. Sablone with whom they shared more than 57 years of marriage. Mrs. Sablone was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Leonard and Barbarina (Russo) Onorato. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for over 35 years at the North Bennett Street School. A community activist, she was well known in the North End. She was instrumental in the committee to build the skating rink on Commercial street and was an honorary member of the St. Joseph Society. She was a wonderful cook and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter Barbara Carey of Arlington, 2 sons James Sablone Jr.,Vincent Sablone and his wife Denise all of Boston's North End. Loving grandmother of Jamie, Regina and Jesse. Dear sister of Dolores Arciero of East Boston, and the late Sarah “Sally” Regnetta, Lorraine Rizzo and Leonard Onorato. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Thursday at 8:45 am. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston, at 9:45 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
