Rita C.(Petroni) Connolly, 77 of Norwood and formerly of East Walpole died February 20 in Caritas Norwood Hospital. She was the wife of Peter J. Connolly.
Born in East Walpole, November 4, 1931 the daughter of the late Peter and Gemma (DiCicco) Petroni, Mrs. Connolly was raised in East Walpole and had lived in Norwood for many years.
She was a 1949 graduate of Walpole High School.
Mrs. Connolly had been a clerk at the CIBA Corning Company in East Walpole before retiring. She had previously worked for the Raytheon Company in Waltham.
Mrs. Connolly loved to work in the garden.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sisters, Esther Petroni, Ninnette Grusheski and Betty Petroni, all of East Walpole. She was the sister of the late Sally and Lili Petroni. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 24 from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St., Walpole at 8:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St.Mary’s Church at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-7 p.m.
