Methuen, MA - Helen M. (Sheehan) Sullivan, 82, died Wednesday February 18, 2009 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of Cornelius and Catherine (Collins) Sheehan. Helen attended Saint Mary's School.
For many years she had been employed as a department manager with Stuart's Department Store in Lawrence. According to her children Nancy and John L. Jr.; their mom enjoyed traveling, and more importantly, spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. They really were the essence of her life. Her sense of fun and contagious wit drew all who knew her to love her dearly.
The widow of John L. Sullivan, Sr. she is survived by her daughter Nancy M. Sullivan of Methuen, and John L., Jr. and his wife Joanne Sullivan of Lowell, her brother Walter A. Sheehan of Lowell, 4 grandchildren; Erica Sullivan, George Tucker III, Laurie Descheneaux, and Lynn Rourke, 11 great-grandchildren; Liam, Reilly, Cadence, Cole, Shamus, Tucker, Luke, Jake, Kaelyn, Ashley and Kevin. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her sister-in-law Mary E. Sheehan.
A mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday morning at 9 o'clock in Saint Monica's Church in Methuen with burial to follow in Methuen's Elmwood Cemetery. Friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday from 4-8 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street of Methuen.
