Marie C. Hayes, a lifelomg Woburn resident, passed away on Friday at the Winchester Hospital after a lengthy illness. The former wife of James F. Hayes, she was seventy-seven years old.
Born and raised in Woburn she was the daughter of the late Katherine Rose (Frizzell) and John F. Lee. Marie was a graduate of St. Charles High School and later graduated from Salem State College. She taught third grade in the Burlington School System and retired to work in the private sector. She enjoyed cooking, was a avid reader and loved going to the movies.
Marie is survived by her son Christopher Hayes and his wife Bonnie of Woburn, her nephew John Lee of Woburn. Also many loving grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings John, Charles, Catherine, Anne and Ledwine Lee and her late niece Mary Lee Meehan.
A mass of christian burial will be celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn on Tuesday, June 3, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the Mclaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, on Monday, June 2, from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
