HARR, DOROTHY LUCILLE, 81, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009.
Dorothy was a VFW and DAV lifetime member and a VA/VS representative for the state of Kentucky; she loved working with our veterans. She was a member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church and was baptized 3 months ago. She was a waitress at Churchill Downs. Dorothy lived in Germany, Hawaii, Italy as well as many places in the US.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Betty Chandler; former husbands, James R. Kelley and Vincent R. Mathews Sr; son-in-law, Rick Gardner; sisters, Martha Southern and Mary Pruitt; and brother, J. L. Chandler.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, George W. Harr Sr.; her children, Betty Gardner, Michael Mathews (Linda), James R. Kelley, Vincent Richard Mathews Jr. (Marisa), George W. Harr (Johnny); sister, Betty Lou Williams; brothers, Eugene Chandler and Walter Chandler; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her service will be 2p.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Bethany Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday 2-8p.m. and Saturday after 10a.m. at the funeral home.
