Obituary

Kelly Sumner, 73, of Rochelle, Georgia, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, February 20, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Tom Camp and Rev. Ike Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Sumner was born August 25, 1935 in Turner County to the late Daniel T. and Annie Lois Kelly Sumner. He lived in the community for the past 35 years and was former owner/operator of Kelly’s Tire Service. Mr. Sumner was a hard worker and a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. He served in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his daughters and a son-in-law-Sandie & Dennis Bryant and Tammy Yeargin all of Fitzgerald; sons, Kevin Sumner and Jason Sumner both of Rochelle; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Hall of Eatonton, Laverne Cantrell of Macon, Frances Fussell and Jeanette Richartz both of Fitzgerald; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby & Pat Sumner of Cleveland, Ralph & Patsy Sumner, Franklin & Rita Sumner and Walter & Janice Sumner all of Fitzgerald, as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sumner, grandson, Christopher Yeargin, sisters, Mary Ruth Walker and Romelle Sumner and brothers, Ray Sumner and Wendell Sumner.
