Mrs. Frances M. Spera, age 92 of Medford died Tuesday in the Annemark Nursing Home Revere. She was the wife of the late Alphonse Spera.
Mrs. Spera was born and educated in Belmont, daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Galgano) Castagno. She loved to cook, crochet and travel. In earlier years she was an active member of the former Sacred Heart Church of Medford, a past president of the Sodality and a teacher in the CCD program. She is survived by two daughters: Charlotte Spera and Barbara Spera both of Medford, two sisters: Eleanor Iannazzi of Waltham, Marie Vesprini of Everett, one brother: Ralph Castagno and his wife Lois of Belmont. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 2 brothers, Alphonse and Joseph Castagno a sister, Rachel Waldschmidt and her beloved dog “Schooner”. Friends may call Friday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, Saturday at 10:00 am.
